The COVID-19 pandemic isn’t stopping anytime soon, and neither are we; in response to our changing workspaces, FOMT is proactively seeking ways to channel this worldwide catalyst for change into developing stronger, more flexible, and more effective digital outreach methods that better serve conservation efforts in the CNMI.

COVID has presented a dilemma for delivering in-person outreach for several of FOMT’s ongoing projects, including fostering new connections between NMC students, 6th graders and ocean elders under Project HOPE. We realized we needed a new virtual platform and revised delivery plan that can be used to supplement direct engagement learning for students and spread awareness about our strategies for the CNMI community as a whole.
With funding from the Northern Marianas Humanities Council, FOMT has invested in developing new media strategies, creating our website and expanding our social media presence so that we can more effectively bring conservation information, educational opportunities, and recruitment calls to the CNMI community. By better engaging with an audience of allies, we’re confident we can maximize our collective potential to conserve our natural resources for future generations.
