Students will engage in 3 themed stewardship projects where they form connections between Western science and Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK). Individual OSCs will foster a sense of responsibility, community, and scientific curiosity among its members, driving increased indigenous capacity in pathways related to natural resource management (NRM) and empowering the active preservation of the ocean for future generations.
2024 – Three Ocean Science Clubs were created, two on Saipan at Marianas High School and Saipan Southern Hight School and another on Tinian at Tinian Middle/High School. An estimated 30 students are currently registered as Solving for X members.
2025 – Year 2 recruitment begins.
