Any sustainable conservation effort is led and executed by the local people; Friends of Mariana Trench strives to create conservation jobs for budding local professionals hungry for an opportunity to prove themselves while serving their community.
(Fall 2020)
We are currently working on a communication strategy and updating our online presence through hiring a college student of indigenous descent for a semester-long internship. The individual will work closely with our Executive Director and Communications Consultant and be responsible for contributing to the development of demographically-appropriate messaging for our website and social media. We envision posting weekly on social media and developing two public service announcements for radio that promote our mission and the mission of the National Wildlife Refuge System. In addition, the intern will review website content and make suggestions for improving content and addressing local issues. This internship was made possible by the O’Brien prize awarded to the FOMT from the National Wildlife Refuge Association.
